Children’s rights are human rights specifically adapted to the child, taking into account their fragility, specificities and age-appropriate needs. Human rights are the fundamental rights that everyone is entitled to as human beings. Children's rights were first recognized in 1924 after WW1. In 1989, U.N General Assembly voted that children all around the world needed special rights just for them. It sets out the rights of all children, aged 0 to 18 years. Children’s rights take into account the necessity of development of the child. They apply equally to every child, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion or wealth. Children's rights are important because they are there to protect and allow the child to survive, grow up healthily, participate in activities and fulfill their potential.
